Water Marbling

Okay..so I'm cruddy at posting often enough on this thing, but it's going to be a new year's resolution to start doing at least one post a week which, let's face it, would be quite an improvement. Anyway, what was I going to post about....oh yeah! Water Marbling.

Water marbling is a really cool and relatively simple way of getting a great effect on your nails. As the name would suggest you need water and, as this is a technique for nails on Nancy's nails etc, nail polish. It's soo cool and if you type water marbling in to Google (or a search engine of your preference) you can see how great it looks.

I don't have any pictures for you because I'm still in the trial and error stage but once I have it mastered I will post some pictures up and when I'm feeling really confident I may even post a video on my youtube channel (www.youtube.com/nancymakeupify) on how to do it. The best videos on youtube I've found so far are by Simplelittlepleasures. I think she has 33 videos just on water marbling so check it out.

Love always

Purple and black sparklyness!!!

I've actually had these nails for a couple of days now I just haven't gotten round to blogging about them. They're not that exciting but I do like them... a lot! They were really easy to do and I don't have to worry about them clashing with an outfit or anything because they just seem to go with everything. Anyway here we go!

The purple on this is a lot lighter in real life and a little less blue. They imprinted pretty badly because I went to bed not long after doing them but I actually like the effect that it gave. Yeah that purple is nowhere near like that. It's more of a metallic lilac than a dark violet. Oh well. Here's everything I used

I used the other end of the cuticle tool to scrape out lines in the black but you can only see that up close I can't give you references for the claire's colours because (I don't know why this is) in Britain they don't put the names on the bottles. But I've blogged about the purple before and the pink is a dark pink glitter. The black is Barry M Nail Paint in 47 or just Black.
That's about it

Finally some pictures and Barry M Vivid Purple

Hooray!! I finally have a camera...and its pink! Anyway down to business I've been promising pictures for quite some time now so I thought I'd start off with my most prized nail polish: Barry M Nail Paint in Vivid Purple. It's my favourite for a reason hopefully you'll see in a minute although the pics didn't come out as clear cut as I wanted...oh well so uh...bring on the pictures!!
Natural Light

Indoor with artificial light

Okay so I failed to clean up before taking these photos and my index fingernail is broken but what the heck the colour is still gorgeous! In real life this polish is a little darker with less purple and the purple is a lot less red than in the indoor photo. The natural light one gets it better but still a little too purple it is such an amazing colour I think you have to see it in real life to really appreciate it.
The application was a little inconsistent. It started off perfect but the air really affected it as I went on. However, if I were to get it out now (a day after application) it would be back to its perfect application. The dry time is rubbish on these, in fact, its really deceptive. It's touch dry in about a minute but you can make imprints in it for hours.
Formula imperfections aside this is a gorgeous colour and I would wear all the time if I didn't like change so much. Look at these pictures full size if possible and that should give you a better perception of the colour. But I do really think you have to see it to believe it.

Now, just for fun...
This is me
And this is my puppy, Kavik

It's been a while

I know I'm still not posting often enough but I still don't have a camera. I don't feel worthy of posting if I don't have a camera so for now I'm gonna tell you about a really cool nail look. It's Lisa Frank inspired and it is sooo cool. I've been told about the great nails of Lisa Frank by my mum in the past so when I heard about this look via http://www.xsparkage.com/ if you wanna have a look I just had to poke my nose in.

The picture is of Leesha(xsparkage)'s nails but the tutorial is by Brooke. Her channel on youtube is http://www.youtube.com/sayanythingbr00ke (the brooke is with 2 zeros instead of letter o's. So if you're interested, go and have a look, I know I sure am!

SOOOO bummed

You know how I was telling you about my manicure done on monday...and how it had no chips.... well this morning I wake up to find my whole nail was bare!!!! So I found my most similar colour nail polish (I don't really own any pinks most of mine are purple shades) but it didn't match well enough.

Sooo I had to then do a coat of that colour on all of my other nails and they don't look nearly as good :( I think I might end up taking it all of and starting again. Bummer...oh well at least my nails haven't all broken off (touchwood)

New camera coming!!!

OMG I can't wait until my birthday!! It's not until August but still... My mum asked me what I wanted for my birthday. She thought there was no real point because I always say I don't know which is usually true. But this time I asked straightaway for a camera!!! Which means I can finally start swatching for you guys!!!!!!!YAY!!!!!!
Maybe people will actually start to read my blog which will be even better.

I think I might start up a new blog just for my life and then everything will be kept separate. Nancy's nails on Nancy's nails and Nancy's life on the other one which I am yet to think of a name for.........isn't that catchy??
Anywhooo... this summer I will actually start to do this blog properly *pinky promise*

MANICURE!!!

My mum's getting married on Saturday so she took me out for a treat seeing as I couildn't go on her hen night with her.

We went to the Elfordleigh, which is where my Mum's wedding will be, and I had what they called an "express manicure." It included a cuticle conditioning, shaping the nail and a polish.

She started off by putting cuticle cream on one hand and then I had to leave it in a pot of hot water while she shaped the other hand's nails. Then she applied the cuticle cream to that hand and took my other hand out of the pot and the newly creamed up hand in. She snipped at all my cuticles for quite a long time because they're quite tough. She then filed those nails and took the other hand out, snipped those cuticles, and, finally, got to work on the polish.

I picked a hot pink colour with a really pretty almost bronze shimmer to it. GORGEOUS!!!! And it hasn't chipped yet after two days. I have a bit of end wear but that's good with me, you can't really see it until you look for it

My day

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd check in. I don't know what to talk about and at the moment my little brother is running around the room in circles making aeroplane noises (he's three). He just passed me one of his many cars (he is extremely proud of his constantly growing collection). It's a Hotwheels 58 Corvette (I think). Wow lots of brackets.

I'm a bit hyper today, it started in German first period because I sit with a girl I can be really silly with and then I went to English still quite hyper....but then I sat next to a girl who depresses me because she is tres tres annoying (just thought I'd get a bit of French in there). Break next which was horrible because I had no food but was starving and therefore wanted to die (or kill someone for food). Then I had Chemistry which was extremely boring...you never ever want to meet my teacher, in fact I'm not sure that she even counts as a teacher as she never even teaches us anything. Sooo by the time I got to History I was quite depressed.

Low and behold in sat the girl I told you about from German next to my usual seat...yes!! And then the hyperness continued, the rest of the class was full on quiet (for them anyway) and me and Kelly were yelling things about people in the room but they just assumed we were drunk and that we didnt mean any of it, but we really did.

That was my day in a nutshell, just thought I'd give you something to read not that anybody reads my blog so in truth I just wanted something to do. Anywhoo...lots of love

Review Nailene Miracle Maker

Okay it hasn't been seven days (only five) but I've noticed a difference already. I don't know whether it's just a psychological thing, but my nails do seem to be growing faster. One thing that i know has changed is the strength of my nails. One of them broke but that was on the verge of breaking before I even started to use the stuff.

I suppose that it has made my nails grow faster. Usually my nails would get to a certain length and break off because they purely weren't strong enough. But they're stronger and they've reached certain length and no breakage!! I'm well chuffed!!

I'll carry on using this one until I run out and then I'll go in search for another one...but this is definitely a winner to me!!

Nail growth products

I personally don't bite my nails but they just seem to have trouble growing. It's like it's too big a commitment for my nails. They're not horrible and short, they're actually quite neat, but I look at people with gorgeously long nails and wish that my nails could be like that.

I've tried Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle and it did work (sort of) but it was a bit too expensive for my likings. So I'm planning on trying out a range of different products (that aren't ridiculously expensive) and telling you which were the most successful.

I am currently testing Nailene Miracle Maker. I haven't noticed anything yet but I've only had it on a day. It says on the packaging something about 7 days so I'll report back then.

My nails are in a bit of a state at the moment. They recently decided they would all break at the same time and yesterday I was wearing a brand new pink pashmina. Windy day. I ended up holding the thing on. The dye came of onto my hands and stained my nails so I'm just going to have to wait for the pink to grow out. Oh well nail fails are part of life. :)

Barry M Vivid Purple

okay this is going to take me ages cause my cat fell asleep on my hand (and it's my right hand) but i just felt the urge to tell you about the nail polish I'm wearing today. It's Barry M's vivid purple (boring name) and it is gorgeous!! It's a really dark purple, I don't really know how to explain it. The base is just a black jelly (and my hand is free!!) with a tonne of purple glitter but its not chunky glitter and there's lots of it so it turns out to be the main colour..I'll have to get pictures to really show you what it's like but for now you'll have to go by my word that it is FANTASTIC!!!

Checkin in

I haven't been on here in ages....and still no photos.

I took pictures of that claires purple colour I was telling you guys about but my computers being gay and doesn't want to connect to my phone. It keeps saying "Operation terminated. Cannot read devise." I'm upset and annoyed about this. It means I have to save up for a new camera (old one's broke), I have to wait ages before I can start posting pictures and I won't have any money for makeup or new nail polishes to show you.

Sooo sorry!!

Claire's nail polish

I've been told a number of times about claires nail polish being really suckish but I refused to allow other people to put me off without actually seeing for myself.

I went into Claire's on Saturday and saw their stand of nail polishes. Just looking at the range of colours I immediately thought how can I not love these??!! I bought numbers 26 and 7 but I can't for the life of mee seem to be able to find out the colour names. I know for a fact that there are colour names but I can't find them anywhere.

Anywhoooo, number 7 was a gorgeous lilac with lovely blue reflections when it hits the light. When I applied the first coat, I thought oh god they were all right about claire's being crud. But I would not give up and upon applying the second coat, I had never been happier!! The colour was taking form as its full gorgeousness that I'd hoped for from the bottle colour.

I ended up applying a third coat because I messed up the second while it was drying. I could not believe the result!! It was lovely as in I ahve never felt such an affection for a nail polish!

With that being a success, I decided to try out number 26. In the bottle it looked a shimmery light to medium blue with a violet shimmer. I fell in love with this colour the moment I saw it in the shop. But as soon as I began to apply it to my nails, my heart sank.

The colour was immediately more opaque than number 7. I would usually be pleased with this but, because I was expecting a very shimmery colour I felt like I had been misled by the bottle colour. I eventually applied 3 coats hoping that it would make the colour come out but no luck.

I went and had a bath and when my nails were wet I saw the violet shimmer I fell in love with. I finished my bath and went and applied a top coat just hoping that it would have the same affect as the water. And it did!

Still not the colour I was expectiong though. The base colour is much like a creme and form the bottle, that's the last thing you'd expect. Until you apply a top cpoat that's all you see, the quite ordinary blue colour and then afterwards, its nice but it would have been even better than the purple if it had been closer to the bottle colour.

Overall I'm not completely disappointed with claire's. It's a lot better than a lot of people are making it out to be. Number 7 was goooorgeooouuuuus! The blue was misleading but had a good result in the end.
